Coconut trees knocked down by Typhoon Bopha in the coastal town of Boston, Davao Oriental in southern Philippines, on December 10, 2012
Erik De Castro: Typhoon Bopha
My grandfather was telling me that coconut trees are pretty resilient, and never in his 87 years has he ever seen them knocked down by a typhoon. Only with Bopha. It’s like they were mere sticks.
We were watching the news and we saw how the people of Davao Oriental are desperate for help. Some of them haven’t gotten any relief goods for several days. It’s good that people are donating, but the question is, are these folks receiving them? How will they get them?
